Bundros passes gavel at chamber
Submitted by the Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce
The Dalton-Whitfield Chamber of Commerce Executive Board regretfully accepted the resignation of Tom Bundros as chairman of the board because he has accepted employment in the metro Atlanta area.
Bundros has served as a member of the Executive Board since April 2004 and has been active in the areas of Member Services and Resource Development. He is a graduate of the Leadership Dalton-Whitfield Class of 1998 and a graduate of the Academy for Economic Development. He also served as a member of the chamber’s Presidential Search Committee.
Bundros began his service as chairman of the Executive Board October 1, 2008, and under his leadership and support provided by his fellow board members and the chamber staff, the organization has accomplished a number of new initiatives. These include an economic and community development initiative called Grow Greater Dalton, health care discussions with businesses and the medical community, the Archway Partnership Project, work force development, the ninth annual Legislative Reception, Friends of the Chamber campaign and some upgrades to the building.
Starting in October, an Economic Development Task Force was created which includes chairmen of the Joint Development Authority, Downtown Dalton Development Authority and the Dalton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the chamber chairman-elect and the chamber president. This task force has been meeting regularly to work together to promote economic development in the area.
“I believe having the chairmen of the Joint Development Authority, the Dalton Area Convention and Visitors Bureau and the Downtown Dalton Development Authority serving on the chamber’s Executive Board has made us aware of the opportunity to work and collaborate together,” Bundros said.
Chamber president Brian Anderson said, “It has been an honor and privilege to work with Tom on the chamber’s Executive Board and to know him as a fellow Rotarian in the morning club. The members of the Executive Board and staff wish him and his family the best as they transition to a new community.”
Effective July 1, David Gregg (Alliance National Bank), who is currently chairman-elect, will serve as chairman.
“David has been actively involved on the board and in this community and he will start his service three months earlier than expected,” said Anderson. “As is the standard practice of the organization, we have already been working with David on a number of projects that will help lead him into the role of chairman. The Executive Board and staff look forward to working with him as we conclude the remaining few months of the program year.”
