Whitfield County Schools accepting pre-kindergarten registrations

Whitfield County Schools’ pre-kindergarten registration for Antioch, Beaverdale, Career Academy, Cohutta and Dug Gap elementary schools will be at the Whitfield County Health Department, 808 Professional Blvd. in Dalton, on Monday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on Tuesday from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Each classroom will serve 20 children. Children must be 4 by Sept. 1, 2008, to attend these pre-kindergarten classrooms.

Parents need to bring the following to register for the pre-kindergarten program:

• Proof of immunizations (Form 3231)

• Eye, ear and dental certificate (Form 3300)

• Social Security card

• Birth certificate

• Proof of address (power or water bill in parents' name)

• Medicaid/PeachCare Card.

Information and registration materials for local private Pre-K and child care providers will also be available. The following services will be available during the registration hours: immunizations; dental, vision and hearing screenings; and birth certificates (if born in Whitfield County).

Other local agencies will have information available on such topics as special needs services, child care resources and referral, dental care and migrant services.
