Red Cross offers child, infant CPR classes

In addition to a variety of courses offered, the Dalton/Whitfield chapter of The American Red Cross offers a special class in infant and child CPR. Designed for professional day care providers, teachers, new parents or anyone who cares for younger children, American Red Cross Infant and Child CPR courses teach key skills for responding to emergencies and saving lives. Each course complies with OSHA First Aid Guidelines and teaches participants the latest scientific findings and best practices specified in the Emergency Cardiovascular Care 2005 Guidelines. With Red Cross training, you’ll help your employees create a safer workplace and offer a valuable benefit that shows your concern for employees, their families and communities.

The comprehensive training combines video, hands-on practice and interactive discussion to engage every learning style. Participants will learn to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in infants and children under the age of 8 years. Additional topics include development of an emergency action plan and tips on prevention and hazard reduction in the home and play areas. Take-home information on injury prevention will be provided.

The next class will be held April 19 from 9am-1 pm in the chapter training room located at 1101 South Thornton Avenue. For more information and registration, contact Laura Cleary at the Dalton/Whitfield Red Cross at 278-5144 or laura_dwarc@windstream.net. Together, we can save a life.
