Three qualify in Eton

From Staff Reports

ETON — Three Eton residents qualified Monday for July 15 special elections for mayor and a City Council seat. Qualifying continues through Wednesday.

Billy Cantrell, who held the Post 1 seat on the council, and Jimmy Bartley, who has served as chairman of the zoning board of appeals, qualified to run for mayor. Jeff Manis qualified for the Post 1 council seat.

Former Eton mayor Greg Hogan resigned last month to run as a Democrat for sole commissioner of Murray County against Democratic incumbent Jim Welch in the July 15 primary.

Qualifying continues today and Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at City Hall, 3464 Highway 411 North in Eton.
