Undercover investigation results in 37 drug arrests in Murray

Thirty-seven people, including one juvenile, have been arrested in Murray County for various drug offenses as part of an undercover investigation that began in February, Sheriff Howard Ensley said Monday. The arrests began in May, according to jail records.

Ensley said investigators have warrants for 11 other people but declined to name them.

Several of the cases involve individuals getting prescriptions from doctors and selling the pills, Ensley said. Some involve burglaries where pills were taken, he said. The pills ranged from painkillers like oxycodone and hydrocodone to valium and alprazolam, a medication used to treat anxiety disorders.

Investigators made 75 undercover drug purchases throughout Murray County as part of the investigation, Ensley said. Deputies seized a fourth of a pound of cocaine, a fourth of a pound of methamphetamine and two pounds of marijuana, he said.

“We’ve also seized $8,000 in cash, three cars, recovered two stolen 4-wheelers and one stolen car,” he said.



Individuals arrested as part of the undercover investigation in Murray County:

• Randall Andrew Ashe, 48, 165 Old Highway 2, Cisco, charged Aug. 18 with sale of methamphetamine and sale of marijuana.

• Richard Fred Ausmus, 46, 1049 Robinson Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 18 with possession of marijuana.

• Rodney Kyle Ausmus, 41, 747 Robinson Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 18 with possession of marijuana and probation violation.

• Paul Wayne Bagwell, 54, 204 Allies Drive, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 7 with trafficking in methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of altered ephedrine, possession of marijuana and probation violation.

• Jerry Ray Broadrick, 46, 5149 Highway 225 N., Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 18 with two counts of sale of alprazolam and two counts of sale of oxycodone.

• Mark Cosby Chase, 39, Wilbanks Street, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 20 with two counts of sale of marijuana.

• Michael Ray Choat, 26, 1743 Brushtown Road, Cisco, was charged Aug. 5 with sale of methamphetamine and parole violation.

• Michael Ronald Cook, 21, 788 Doctor Johnson Road, Crandall, was charged Aug. 20 with two counts of sale of alprazolam.

• Tyson Lee Cravens, 29, 311 Wilson Trail, Ranger, was charged with sale of methamphetamine and parole violation (date of arrest not available).

• Christopher Demonte Darden, 31, 819 W. Polk St., Rockmart, was charged Aug. 7 with trafficking in cocaine and possession of marijuana.

• Michael Allen Donovan Jr., 28, 311 Maple Grove Road, Dalton, was charged June 24 with sale of marijuana, sale of alprazolam, possession of marijuana and probation violation.

• Crystal Gayle Grant, 30, 2388 Mount Carmel Church Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 19 with six counts of sale of hydrocodone and two counts of illegal sale of prescription drugs.

• Jimmy Dean Grizzle, 47, 721-A Fullers Chapel Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 18 with two counts of sale of hydrocodone, two counts of sale of diazepam, two counts of sale of methamphetamine and parole violation.

• Ralph David Hall, 49, Highway 225 S., Chatsworth, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime (date of arrest not available).

• Gary Lamar Head, 40, 817 Torino Drive, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 20 with sale of alprazolam.

• Scott Edward Head, 44, 817 Torino Drive, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 20 with sale of hydrocodone.

• Robert Carl Hooper, 35, 876 Callie Jones Road, Lot N, Chatsworth, was charged June 24 with possession of marijuana.

• Rhonda Davis Lawrence, 37, 57 Silvers Road, Chatsworth, was charged July 11 with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

• Eric Bradley Locke, 21, 482-C, Barney Pierce Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 18 with sale of morphine and sale of marijuana.

• Donald Victor Long, 41, 485 Old Highway 2, Cisco, was charged Aug. 19 with sale of carisoprodol.

• Doreen Mason, 43, 876-G Callie Jones Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 19 with sale of alprazolam and sale of hydrocodone.

• Van Arthur Mason, 43, 876-G Callie Jones Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 19 with sale of oxycontin and sale of valium.

• Laney Dejuan McClure, 36, 1708 Cobb Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 7 with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute.

• Charles David Overby, 18, 1049 Robinson Road, Chatsworth, was charged July 5 with possession of methamphetamine.

• Bobby Shaun Pack, 24, 427 Southern Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 19 with sale of morphine and sale of marijuana.

• Mitchell Dayne Peters, 21, 798 Callie Jones Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 19 with distribution of methadone and distribution of amphetamine.

• Robin Lynn Phillips, 42, 1914 Shield Road, Dalton, was charged Aug. 19 with possession of a dangerous drug.

• Roy Eugene Rich, 27, 98 Oak Hill St., Chatsworth, was charged July 5 with possession of xanax, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.

• Amy Mae Roach, 34, 788 Doctor Johnson Road, Crandall, was charged Aug. 18 with sale of alprazolam.

• Debra Lucille Rymer, 37, 747 Robinson Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 18 with possession of marijuana and probation violation.

• Richard Apollo Sorton, 29, 57 Silvers Road, Chatsworth, was charged July 11 with possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana.

• Erika Schria Tomas, 1178 Highway 225 S., Lot 46, Chatsworth, was charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of tools for the commission of a crime.

• Adrian Melecio Trinidad, 32, 246 Electra Blvd., Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 6 with trafficking in methamphetamine and theft by receiving.

• Maria Angelica Trujillo, 36, 246 Electra Blvd., Chatsworth, was charged May 23 with trafficking in methamphetamine and illegal re-entry into the United States.

• Kenneth Lee Turnquist, 76, 126 Nassau Circle, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 19 with two counts of possession of marijuana, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, probation violation and sale of marijuana.

• Keith Lamar Wilson, 42, 1708 Cobb Road, Chatsworth, was charged Aug. 7 with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of a sawed-off shotgun during the commission of a crime.

One juvenile was also charged.
