The Whitfield Healthcare Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Hamilton Medical Center, announces the appointment of eight new trustees to the Foundation Board. Chaired by Bryan McAllister, vice president of finance for Brown Industries Inc., the foundation’s mission is to encourage charitable gifts that support and advance the quality of health care provided by Hamilton Medical Center and its affiliates.
Established in 1975, the foundation is guided by a board of 75 trustees serving on one of six committees — Annual Support, Business Relations, Planned Giving, Signature Gifts, Special Prospects or Trust.
The Annual Support Committee, which solicits new donors and gifts on an annual basis through programs such as Westcott Associate, Hamilton Club, Love Light Trees, Golf Invitational and Speedy Recovery, also sponsors various community outreach educational programs. New to the committee are Charles N. Dobbins Jr., Edward Clayton Miller and James David Morgan.
Chuck Dobbins, director of corporate assets with Shaw Industries Group, received a bachelor of science in industrial management from the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is active with the Rotary Club of Dalton, International Council of Shopping Centers, Dalton-Whitfield Joint Development Authority, chairman of the board; and as a licensed real estate broker, the Core Net Global Real Estate Organization. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Dalton and he and his wife, Donna, have three daughters, Carla, Heather and Emily.
Clay Miller is president of Clayton Miller Hospitality Carpet. He received a bachelor of science in business administration from Newberry College in South Carolina. He is past-president and a current member of the Board of Directors of The Farm Golf Club.
Miller attends Saint Mark’s Episcopal Church and he and his wife, Kim, have four children, Andrew, Grant, Bryan and Chase.
David Morgan, vice president of logistics, Shaw Industries Group, received a bachelor in mechanical engineering from Georgia Tech. He and his wife, Angie, have two children, Kathryn and Brett, and attend First Baptist Church of Dalton.
Joining the current roster of the Business Relations Committee, which serves as liaison to the business and professional sector of the community and the medical center and recruits financial support through the Hamilton Business Alliance, are Philip Antony Elrod, James Lesslie and Isaac Chadwick Painter.
Tony Elrod is the owner of Box 1 Inc., a company specializing in corrugated shipping containers. He is active with the Susan B. Komen Race for the Cure and is of the Presbyterian faith. Tony and his wife, Wendy, have a daughter, Sara Kate.
James Lesslie, president, Beaulieu Commercial, received a bachelor of science in chemical engineering from the University of South Carolina. Lesslie attends the First Presbyterian Church of Dalton and is the father of Jason, Ryan and Eric.
Chad Painter received a bachelor in business administration from the University of Georgia and is the owner of a State Farm insurance agency. He is a member of the First Baptist Church of Dalton and has two children, Chapman and Landon.
Kevin Scott Allen joins the Planned Giving Committee which assists in implementing programs that will produce financial support for the foundation in the major areas of planned giving, such as wills and bequests, life income agreements, life insurance, annuities and charitable remainder trusts.
Allen is in banking/wealth management with BB&T. He received a master of divinity from Southwestern Seminary and also has a BBA in marketing and finance. His community service activities include memberships on the Providence Ministries Advisory Board, New Hope Elementary PTO Board and Kiwanis. Scott and his wife, Brandi, are the parents of Olivia and Elizabeth and attend Fellowship Bible Church.
The Special Prospects Committee, which is responsible for the procurement of individuals for membership in the Westcott Fellowship giving program, adds Alice H. Squillario.
Squillario is in real estate sales with Coldwell Banker Kinard Realty where she has been named top salesman for four years. She has a bachelor of science in education and is married to Douglas Squillario. Squillario’s community activities include trustee of the Dalton State College board; vice chairman of the Dalton Board of Education; the Family Support Council; helped with the establishment of the Looper Speech and Hearing Clinic; president, United Methodist Women; Girl Scout Leader; president, Dalton Swim Club; Cheerhaven Board; United Way, residential chairman; secretary, American Red Cross; Salvation Army Board; Education is Essential; and she is a member of the First United Methodist Church of Dalton.
“I applaud these new trustees for their willingness to be representatives of the foundation within our community,” said McAllister. “Philanthropic support is critical to the future of health care. We, as members of the Whitfield Healthcare Foundation Board, endeavor to help provide the financial support needed to ensure Hamilton’s ready response to the changing health care environment. I look forward to serving with these new trustees as we work together toward this goal.”
