Motorcyclist hurt near trade center

Mark Millican

A motorcyclist was injured in a wreck on Dug Gap Battle Road at the entrance to the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention around 5 p.m. on Thursday, said a Whitfield 911 spokeswoman.

Jeffrey Johnson, 44, of Rocky Face, was traveling down the mountain when John Woodruff, 30, of Rocky Face, pulled out of the trade center into Johnson’s path, said Steve Zahn with the Dalton Police Department’s traffic enforcement unit. Johnson was then hit by a third car driven by a female driver, but her identification was not known.

Zahn said Johnson was taken to Hamilton Medical Center with what appeared to be broken bones, but may have been taken on to Erlanger Medical Center in Chattanooga. A spokeswoman at Erlanger said Johnson was a patient there but would not give his condition.

Woodruff will be cited with failure to yield, said Zahn. The collision is still under investigation, he said.
