Chatsworth men face sex-related charges

Two Chatsworth men have been indicted on separate sex-related charges by a Murray County grand jury and will face arraignment in Superior Court on Dec. 2, officials said.
Scotty Lynn Keeler, 35, of 84 Meadow Drive, was charged in April by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office with one count of child molestation. He exposed himself to a female child he was not related to and performed an indecent act, said Detective Brett Morrison with the sheriff’s office.
Keeler has been in custody in the county jail since his arrest.
Gregory Heath Engle, 22, of 1221 N. Third Ave., was charged in September by the Chatsworth Police Department with failure to register as a sex offender and is still in custody.
In December of 2004, Engle was charged by a Whitfield County grand jury with two counts of aggravated child molestation and a count of child molestation for incidents that occurred in August and September of that year. In January of 2005, those counts were changed to two counts of statutory rape and Engle pleaded guilty to both, a clerk of court spokeswoman said. He was sentenced to 15 years, with two years in prison followed by 13 years on probation, with conditions to include sex offender treatment.
“He was sentenced as a first offender (in 2005),” said District Attorney Kermit McManus. “To date, no action has occurred on the probation (violation).”
