N. Murray outmatched

From Staff Reports
Dalton Daily Citizen

The North Murray High football team suffered its first-ever loss as a program Saturday night in Chatsworth against Dade County, 50-28.

But Dade County had a clear advantage over the junior varsity Mountaineers (1-1).

“We assumed we’d be playing their JV team,” North Murray coach Larry Cornelius said. “But they brought some varsity players because they didn’t play this week, so it was our underclassmen against their upperclassmen. No excuses though. We made some mistakes tonight and we’re going to have to work on downsizing those.”

The Mountaineers’ scoring came from a 29-yard pass from Brady Swilling to Brandon Flood in the second quarter, a 75-yard kickoff return from Jonathan Olinger in the third, a 38-yard run from Austin Carter in the third and a 20-yard pass from Swilling to Zach Penland in the third. Izzy Hernandez was 4-for-4 on PATs.
