Kroger customers donate more than $600,000 to Haiti
Kroger customers in the Atlanta Division — Georgia, South Carolina, Northern Alabama and Eastern Tennessee — donated more than $600,000 in 23 days to benefit the American Red Cross International Response Fund for Haiti. The money will provide food, water, clothing, cleaning supplies and other necessities for earthquake victims.
The Atlanta division includes the two Dalton Kroger stores.
“The people of Atlanta have opened up their hearts and wallets for Haiti,” said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “It really shows what can be accomplished when a community rallies to help those in need.”
From Jan. 14, through Feb. 6, Kroger customers “rounded up” their purchases to the nearest dollar and made monetary donations at Kroger to benefit the fund.
“Kroger would like to thank our customers, partners and associates for supporting this worthwhile cause,” Jenkins said. “The Haitian people have suffered greatly due to this tragic event, and it is our hope this donation will provide, in some way, aid to the victims.”
