BREAKING NEWS: Dalton Public, Murray and Whitfield schools dismissing early

Dalton Public, Murray County and Whitfield County schools are dismissing students early today due to weather concerns. As of 11:20 a.m., Murray County Schools were not closing early.

Dalton Public will dismiss elementary school students at 12:15 p.m. and grades six through 12 at 1:15 p.m.�There will be no after-school programs today.

Whitfield County elementary students were dismissed at noon followed by middle and high school students at 1 p.m. Buses will run their regular routes. All elementary, middle and high school car riders as well as student drivers were released at noon.

Murray County will dismiss all students at 1:15 p.m.

There is a “slight chance” of snow and sleet before 1 p.m., then a "slight chance" of rain, snow and sleet, according to the National Weather Service. The high is expected to reach 45 degrees. There is a chance of rain and sleet before 1 a.m. Tuesday, then rain likely. The low is expected to be 37 degrees.
