Coker-Godfrey lead at DGCC

The team of James Coker and Mike Godfrey shot a first-round 56 in the Championship Flight on Friday in the two-day Member-Guest golf tournament at Dalton Golf and Country Club.

The final round begins today at 10 a.m.

Bud Herndon-Chris Herndon and Jason Raughton-Beau Bray (58) are tied for second and Howell Kerr-Joe Markham (61) are in third. The teams of Lanny Bailey-Tom Miller, Dwight Hefner-Danny Freeman and Greg Kirk and Ben Veazy shot 65 and are tied for fourth.

In the First Flight, Dan Peeples-Erik Kyer (58) lead, Matt Donahue-Neil Avent (59) are in second, David Finley-Rhett Hartzog (60) are third and three teams — William Edwards-Daniel Long, Dan Rogers-lee Smith and Jim Hunt-Brian Hunt are fourth at 61.

In the Second Flight, Todd Nelson-Tom Cook lead with an opening 55, Gregg Hayes-Steve Watson (58) are in second and Gary Middleton-Kenny Reed are tied for third with a 59. Clyde Willocks-Chad DeFoor and Carl Puryear-Richard Sain are tied for fourth at 60.

In the Third Flight, there is a three-way tie for first at 60, which includes Chris Gentry-Tate Smith, Jim Lord-Vern Phillips and Tom Berry-Charles Arnold. Buddy Barrett-Wallace Kale (62) are in second and George King-David Gibson (63) are in third.

Bruce Jennings-Bob Fallis won the putting contest with a score of 39 and the Herndons won the skins on hole Nos. 7 and 16, while Sean Vaughn-Brandon Waters won on hole No. 10.
