Memorial Faith Community Nurse Class begins Feb. 10

Submitted by Memorial Heath Care System

CHATTANOOGA —Registered nurses interested in providing a health ministry in their churches are invited to join the Faith Community Nurse Preparation Class offered by Memorial Health Care System.

The program includes three 8-hour days and three 3-hour evening sessions for a total of 33 contact hours. The day sessions are Feb. 10, 17 and March 3. The evening sessions are March 9, 23 and April 6. All sessions must be completed.

“Because of the importance of whole body health, which focuses on the body, mind and spirit, Memorial offers this program to prepare registered nurses to establish health ministry programs in their congregations or faith communities,” explains Connie Rotters Blake, Faith Community Nurse Coordinator. “Faith Community Nurses serve as a vital link between health care and church communities.”

Topics discussed during the preparation classes include assessing the health needs of the congregation/faith community, health education and health counseling, community resources, and approaches to grief and bereavement. Applications must be completed by Jan. 30, and a tuition deposit must be received by Feb. 10.

Memorial’s Faith Community Nurse Program has prepared 90 RNs representing 12 denominations to bring whole person health and healing to their congregations. If you are interested in learning more or joining this special ministry, contact Connie Blake at (423) 495-6163 or via email to [email protected].
