Community Calendar 6-17



The Community Calendar runs in the Living section each Wednesday and Sunday on a space-available basis. To announce your meeting, e-mail the information to [email protected] or send by fax to (706) 275-6641. Please send your item at least two weeks in advance and include a telephone number to contact for more information.

June 18-28

� The Marsh House Museum in LaFayette will present a special tour and exhibit, “From Cradle to Grave,” June 18-28. The exhibit by local expert Tina Rogers will show clothing from the 1860s. Rogers will explain the occasions for the dresses and suits, differences in social classes’ clothing, sewing methods and materials along with the context of the Civil War period. Trained docents will lead a tour of the house and tell the story of the Marsh family. Hours are 1 to 3 p.m. Thursdays and Sundays. Admission is $5 for adults and youth and $1 for children. The museum is located on North Main Street.

June 18

� Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4985 will host bingo June 18 at 7 p.m. Admission is $7 with $1,500 in prizes awarded. Games are open to the public. The Post is located on Veterans Drive in Dalton.

June 19

� The Engine Room restaurant will host a drive-thru spaghetti dinner June 19 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Proceeds benefit the North Georgia Hysteria ‘94 fast-pitch softball team to help pay for their upcoming trip to the Sporting Events Association of America World Series tournament in Pigeon Forge, Tenn. Plates are $6 include spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic roll, salad with dressing and a bottle of spring water. The Engine Room is at 1525 Waring Road in Dalton. June 20

� A Tom and Lillie Brown family reunion will be held June 20 at 4 p.m. at the Antioch Baptist Church. This is rescheduled due to a death in the family in April.

� Mayberry Day will be held June 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Eton Park. The event will feature impersonators, crafts, games, shows, music and food. Admission is $1 for adults and free for children.

� The Murray County Humane Society will host a yard sale and bake sale June 20 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Crandall. There will be items available for the whole family, including Dad. Lunch will be served for $5. The event will be at 12097 Highway 225 North. For more information, call (706) 695-2642 or e-mail [email protected].
