Beginning in January, the Creative Arts Guild will host its second community lifestyle fitness program.
Get Fit 2009 — Biggest Loser Fitness Challenge, developed and directed by Minnette Lusk of the Guild, is primarily designed for people who want to live well, get fit, and lose weight. The program can also benefit those who are looking for adventure in their fitness routine and more motivation to take themselves to a new level.
The 12-week program, scheduled to begin Jan. 10, will help hold participants accountable to achieve a wide range of wellness and fitness goals in a team based setting.
“This is a perfect way for people to accomplish a true lifestyle change in regards to their personal health and wellness,” said Lusk, Living Well director.
As a kickoff to the program, participants will receive an individual health consultation, body composition profile and metabolic assessment, personalized exercise program design and dietary guidelines as well as a participant handbook that includes an exercise log and food journal scheduled to begin Jan. 9. The program also includes two exercise classes per week, Living Well lectures, and a team challenge activity every other Saturday.
As the program progresses from week to week, participants and teams will earn points by doing such things as attending exercise classes, maintaining exercise and food journals and winning team challenges.
At the end of the 12 weeks, prizes will be awarded to the wining team and the biggest loser.
An information session will be at the Creative Arts Guild on Jan. 8 at 7:30 p.m. for those who have applied and also those who might be interested in learning how the program works. It will also be an opportunity to hear the results from a few of last year’s participants.
The application deadline is Jan. 8 and the program will begin Jan. 10.

This program is supported in part by the Georgia Council for the Arts (GCA) through the appropriations of the Georgia General Assembly. GCA also receives support from its partner agency, the National Endowment for the Arts.
