The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mobile District, will waive all day use fees normally charged at recreation areas during the week of Aug. 1-9.
The waiver only encompasses day use fees for swimming, beaches and boat ramps. Fees for camping, specialized facilities such as picnic shelters and other special use/events will not be waived.
“Waiving day use fees presents an incentive for the public to visit our lakes,” said Lisa Coghlan, public affairs officer for the Mobile District. “Visitors provide significant economic benefits and any increase in visitation helps stimulate local economies. This waiver of day use fees for swimming, beaches and boat ramps does not apply to recreation areas managed by third parties.”
The Mobile District provides recreation opportunities in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Mississippi.
