Golf tourney in Catoosa County

The Ringgold and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe high school football teams are again hoping to swing for big money in the 2nd Annual “ Battle at the Battlefield” Golf Tournament. The four-man select shot tournament, set for May 15 at Battlefield Golf Club, will run in conjunction with the spring football inner-squad games at Ringgold.

Both schools are encouraging alumni to participate in the tourney. The fee is $100 per player and includes food and soft drinks along with a gift bag, commemorative hat, door prizes, and a ticket to the doubleheader Spring Football Games that evening.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe will kickoff the evening with an inner-squad scrimmage at 7:30 p.m. at Don Patterson Field, followed by host Ringgold.

Warriors’ Coach Todd Windham said the production was “well received” in the community last year and looked forward to wrapping up their spring season with their cross-county rivals.

Ringgold Coach Robert Akins, jokingly said he was looking forward to trying to out-do Windham on the golf links.

Windham said the biggest addition to the golf tournament this year is cash and door prizes.

The overall winning team will be awarded $1,000.

A door prize of $500 will be given in the morning and the afternoon round

Akins said a male and female student from Ringgold and Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe High School will also go home big winners.

The students will receive an academic scholarship of $500 from the proceeds raised from the tournament.
