Former Dalton High football and baseball standout Mitchell Boggs made his fifth start of the season for the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night in St. Louis against Houston.
Boggs received a no-decision in St. Louis' 4-3 win over the Astros, leaving after five innings with the Cardinals trailing 2-1. He threw 99 pitches (55 for strikes) and gave up two earned runs and six hits while walking five and striking out five.
Boggs was called up to the Cardinals earlier this week from Triple-A Memphis to replace the struggling Todd Wellemeyer.
In six games this season with St. Louis, Boggs is 1-0 with a 3.29 earned run average.
