Taxed Enough Already Party chapter seeks volunteers

After a rally in LaFayette on tax deadline day, organizers of the local Taxed Enough Already (TEA) Party chapter are urging more people to get involved.
The local group said it doesn’t align itself with any political party and calls itself a “We the People” group that focuses on government following the U.S. Constitution, and taxpayers who are against taxation without representation.
“What we are looking at to do is to get some promotion, to get some volunteers out to help and so forth,” said local TEA Party organizer O.J. Miller.
The group is looking for volunteers who want to organize for the upcoming nationwide July 4 TEA Party. The group is looking for people to hand out fliers, make posters, do print work and so on.
Ralph Casey of the National Farrier Research Center in Villanow has offered his facilities to be used as a meeting ground.
“We are going to meet out there about every other week,” he said.
According to Casey, the feedback from the April 15 TEA Party at the Joe Stock Memorial Park has been great, but one common thing the men have heard is not enough people had heard enough about it. Politicians speaking at the event was another issue.
“One of the things that I heard a lot of criticism about was the politicians speaking, and so my suggestion was that we keep ours simple and let everyday people, instead of politicians, get up and speak,” Casey said.
The group invites the public to the first meeting Monday, May 4, at 7:30 p.m. at the National Farrier Research Center, 14013 Ga. 136.
Citizens interested in getting involved in the “We the People” TEA Party group and helping promote the local July 4 TEA Party are encouraged to call (706) 397-8047 or (706) 638-3234, or e-mail [email protected].
