Atlanta Press Club hosts debates

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Press Club will host 14 debates this election season, giving statewide candidates a chance to debate the issues. The debates will take place October 20, 21, 26 and November 2 at Georgia Public Broadcasting (GPB), at 260 14th Street in Midtown, in front of a live studio audience. Press club members, journalists, college students and supporters are invited to be part of the live audience.



The schedule for the debates is:



U.S. Court of Appeals- online debate*

Monday, October 20 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.

Invited candidates include Tamela Adkins, Sara Doyle, Bruce Edenfield, Christopher McFadden, Perry McGuire, Michael Meyer von Bremen and Mike Sheffield



7th Congressional District- online debate*

Tuesday, October 21 from 10 -10:30 a.m.

Invited candidates include Doug Heckman and John Linder



6th Congressional District-online debate*

Tuesday, October 21 from 10:45 - 11:15 a.m.

Invited candidates include Bill Jones and Tom Price



3rd Congressional District-online debate*

Tuesday, October 21 from 11:30 a.m. - noon.

Invited candidates include Stephen Camp and Lynn Westmoreland



13th Congressional District

Tuesday, October 21 from 2 - 2:30 p.m.

GPB Television: Tuesday, October 21 at 7:00 p.m.

GPB Knowledge: Wednesday, October 22 at 12 Noon

Invited candidates include Deborah Honeycutt and David Scott



4th District Public Service Commission-

Tuesday, October 21 from 3 - 3:30 p.m.

Invited candidates include Brandon Givens, Lauren W. McDonald Jr., and Jim Powell



1st Congressional District

GPB Knowledge is now available digitally in Atlanta (8.3); Albany (14.3); Augusta (20.3); Chatsworth (18.3); Columbus (28.3); Dawson (25.3); Macon (29.3); Savannah (9.3) and Waycross (8.3). For cable and satellite channel information, viewers should check with their local providers.



The Atlanta Press Club will also tape three local debates at GPB in front of a live studio audience. These debates will air on WPBA Sunday, October 26 from 9:30 a.m -11:00 a.m.



Fulton County Sheriff

Monday, October 20 from 10 - 10:30 a.m.

Invited candidates include Ted Jackson and Michael Rary



Clayton County Sheriff

Monday, October 20 from 10:45 - 11:15 a.m.

Invited candidates include Kem Kimbrough and Jack Rainwater



Gwinnett County Commission Chair

Monday, October 20 from 11:30 a.m. - noon

Invited candidates include Charles Bannister and Vincent Passariello
