History room named at Murray library
From Staff Reports
CHATSWORTH — With the addition at the Chatsworth-Murray County Library almost complete, sole commissioner Jim Welch recognized several individuals on Tuesday who helped with the effort. He also announced the naming of the Anderson-Anderson History Room in memory of H.H. Anderson and Thomas Parker Anderson, prominent figures in Murray County’s past.
H.H. Anderson was a former state representative and Chatsworth city councilman, said librarian Pat Ausmus. Thomas Parker Anderson served on the county’s board of education and board of tax assessors, as well as the World War II ration board.
The library’s board of directors made the room designation during Welch’s meeting, and also welcomed project contributors Mr. and Mrs. Turner Warmack.
“The Warmacks were recognized for making a gracious donation to the new library wing,” said Welch, who steered 2006 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds to the expansion. The 2,000 square foot addition cost approximately $235,000, said Welch.
A formal dedication of the new library wing will be on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m., said Ausmus.
