City Council actions

Dalton City Council members Dick Lowrey and Charlie Bethel were sworn in Wednesday night. Neither man faced any opposition for re-election last year.

The council voted 4-0 to:

� Reappoint for one-year terms Police Chief Jason Parker, Fire Chief Bruce Satterfield and Fire Marshal Jeff Dugger.

� Reappoint Bill Weaver to a four-year term on the Public Safety Commission.

� Approve beer and liquor pouring licenses for the 5th Quarter Pub, and wine, beer and liquor pouring licenses for the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center.

The council also reappointed Lowrey as mayor pro tem.

City offices will be closed on Monday, Jan 18, for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. The City Council’s next meeting will be Tuesday, Jan., 19, at 6 p.m.
